The Rosettes were beautiful, the organisers did for the most a good job being friendly and courteous, the grounds were fantastic for white dogs – lush green and clean grass. The company was great and wow, we did extremely well with Maggie being out of coat !
Ok, so that’s our opening line now for a short story on our adventures.

Still Smiling! Still Smiling! Still Smiling! Still Smiling! Still Smiling! Still Smiling! Still Smiling!

For those visitors that don’t know - Bloemfontein is a mighty cold town in the middle of one of our provinces called the Free State bringing out gloves, jackets and head bands to keep warm in the early morning hours. It can also reach quite high temperatures with very hot dry air, so occasionally some of us can’t breath up there !

Still smiling!
We're looking real serious here! We're looking real serious here! We're looking real serious here! We're looking real serious here! We're looking real serious here! We're looking real serious here!

But that doesn’t stop us doggy people showing.
The wind also reaches top speeds and certainly did its rounds over the show weekend lifting ladies skirts and for breeds with long coats it was a nightmare, so the brushes were out in full force on all 4 show days.
There were in fact 4 shows plus the Kusa National Event over the 4 days and I am happy to say that even in the shows my dogs didn’t feature they still showed well under pressure.

We're looking real serious here.

On the first day of the show Thursday under a Brazilian judge, Maggie breezed in to take Best of Breed over 11 White Shepherds entered. In her true style of ‘flashy’ showing – she gaited her heart out and proved once again that even ‘out of coat’ this little girl can still pull in the winnings – she really has all the aces ! We noticed that the Brazilian judge came to the ring and watched our glamourous girl take Reserve Best of Breed the next day under a Japanese judge, the Brazilian watched her smiling as she left the ring. Maggie did a repeat performance of Best of Breed on Sunday as well under South African judge Mrs Lynne Brand.

My young puppy male, King of Diamonds (Chango) came out guns-smoking on Thursday, showed like a dream and moved incredibly well under the Brazilian judge and took on the day no less than :
1x Best Puppy, 1x Reserve Best of Breed to kennel mate Maggie, his first CC (championship point) and 2nd place in the Puppy Herding Group – I couldn’t have asked for anything more – the atmosphere was electric, the wind blowing high but he stood his ground like a true king !
On Sunday, Chango once again took Reserve Best of Breed, Best Puppy and CC male. Chango is sure to be a promising star one day.

On Saturday morning while walking the dogs, I got a pleasant surprise, Friends Steven and Charmaine with doggies in tow surprised with a visit and an overnight stay to support me for the rest of the weekends showing ! wow, that’s SUPPORT for you travelling 4 hours to cheer their breeder on – my heartfelt thanks to you both ! On Saturday evening we supported our friends at the KUSA National event, tired though we were sipping champagne and eating pizza’s in the true spirit of the sport.

On Sunday, we cheered our fellow mates on as usual enjoying the sunny weather that Bloemfontein had offered us over the 4 days of showing and finally collected our certificates and started on our long 7 hour journey home. It was a stress- free show for us and we thoroughly enjoyed socialising with our friends – THUMBS UP FOR BLOEM AND ALL THOSE WHO MADE IT A GREAT STAY, to my fellow exhibitors who gave us a warm welcome, lots of hugs and laughter, it was wonderful seeing you all again – a special thank you – you make showing WORTH IT !

To my precious little Maggie and Chango – tired though they were – I thank you both for giving me the best of what you had – and Chango I know now that you can gait much better than I originally thought so you are going to have to show us that in future !

And so we arrived home relaxed from our trip, Chango once again reunited with his little mate Sugar, played for some time before he lay his head at last. Maggie took up her usual position on my pillow, and me? Well, I just crashed fast asleep surrounded once again by my ‘flock’.
It was good to be back home.

powered by our dreams..........

.......... a lifetime of love!
