I am constantly striving for the improvement of the breed which can clearly be seen in
my carefully thought out breeding program. I do not just slap two dogs together and hope for the best.
The ‘Art of Breeding’ is complex and therefore each litter is carefully planned and thought out
months before the mating of the parents takes place.
My aim is to improve the health, genetics, construction and overall temperament of the breed
hence keeping the kennel of Snowey River equal to that of international standards.
My knowledge of the breed over the years has grown largely due to my great passion and love
for these beautiful dogs but also in taking the advice of more experienced European and
South African breeders, the same can be said for my knowledge on breeding and genetics,
since the long hours that I have put into research and reading on these topics
has certainly been invaluable to my breeding program and its success. |

The absolute pride that a breeder feels when you hold that
first puppy up in the air wrapped in a warm towel –
you just have this overwhelming sense of pride !
To watch the little snowflakes grow and play and discover
the simple things that nature has to offer is one of lifes finest rewards.
But to watch them leave your home is a combination of joy and sadness.
Joy because your puppy will bring joy to his new family and sadness
because you have given your heart yet again to the little creature
you have helped to create. So if you see ‘tears’ when your puppy
leaves our home, you will surely understand that we have HEART !

It is for this reason too that ALL Snowey River puppies are to be returned to our kennel
should their new owners no longer be able to keep them, this condition is out of tremendous care
for our breeding and ensures that no Snowey River puppy is found in an animal shelter (RSPCA) unwanted. |
