To
find the right words to tribute Damask is difficult, she was that perfect
to me. From the time of her birth, through her puppy hood to Best In
Show Puppy, to her many CC’s, Best of Breeds and group placings,
through her short Agility career qualifying in AG1, as a mother-dog
to brilliant offspring, as a personal body guard and companion (with
the Canine Good Citizen test awarded) and as my loyal friend, I couldn’t
have asked for a more adaptable White Shepherd – she was an exceptional
lady.
From the
time she entered the showring in South Africa, she wowed the crowds
with her outstanding movement and was often seen teamed up with handler
Mark Anderson at the helm of her lead. The pair got a standing ovation
at the Herding ring final WSSD pullouts at
George Campbell in Durban in 2003 – the crowds clapped and cheered
and went wild when Damask fought it out with old girl Gjema-Lee in the
finals for the title of KUSA National WSSD 2003 – so impressed
was the international judge that he gave her a group placing too…………it
was an awesome moment for a pretty home-bred girl. She repeated the
performance and once
again snitched the title in 2006.
Damask
was the proud mother of 3 Breed champions, Ch.Snowey River Q’lassic
Coco, Ch.Snowey River Winter Dragon and Ch.Snowey River Winter Star
(also Flyball Gr.Champ). And proud mom of export Snowey River Schumba
Star in Holland who resembles his mother closely. Damask herself was
from a litter of 10 puppies, she was an inquisitive and energetic girl
with a well-balanced nature – intelligence was the name of her
game. She adored her mother Brittney and copy-catted a lot of her moves.
Damask,
remember what mom used to say to you ‘Dammy you are No.1’.
My charming girl is gone now and I miss her so dearly. There is not
a cup big enough in this world to fill my tears of sadness for you so
I will just say a simple :
Goodbye Dammy, I will always think of you and know that you are the
most precious of all the Night Stars.
Love Mom |
